Forbes magazine’s publisher has agreed to sell a majority stake of its media business to a Hong Kong-based group of investors for an undisclosed sum，F(xiàn)orbes Media said on Friday，capping an eight-month hunt for a buyer for the company.

The buyer is a newly formed consortium out of Hong Kong called Integrated Whale Media Investments，led by Integrated Asset Management，an investment company that focuses on the technology，finance and telecommunications sectors，and Wayne Hsieh，the co-founder of Asustek Computer Inc.

The sale includes Forbes and Forbes Life magazines，a majority interest in a group of websites，F(xiàn)orbes.com，plus assorted businesses such as newsletters and conferences. There are also 36 licensed local editions including in China，Vietnam and Russia，up from nine in 2008.

The Forbes family will keep a“significant”ownership stake and stay actively involved with the company，F(xiàn)orbes said. Steve Forbes will stay on in his role as chairman and editor-in-chief，the company said，while president and CEO Mike Perlis will continue to lead the company’s management team.

The transaction valued Forbes Media LLC at $475 million，said a person with knowledge of the matter，who asked not to be identified because the terms are private.
